Mercado Pago approves the payment, but WooCommerce leaves the order pending or cancelled
· Sasha
Your customer made a purchase and Mercado Pago confirmed the charge. Yet WooCommerce still shows Pending payment, or the order has been Cancelled.
The payment came through, but your store did not record the result correctly. This can mean orders that never reach fulfilment, customer complaints, stock discrepancies and time spent comparing payment records with orders.
It may affect only some sales, making the problem harder to spot.
Why does WooCommerce fail to update an order after Mercado Pago approves payment?
Mercado Pago must notify WooCommerce about the payment result. Delivery or processing can fail or be delayed because of webhook settings, server access, integration errors or compatibility issues.
WooCommerce can also cancel eligible pending orders when their configured stock-hold period expires. A cancelled order does not necessarily mean the customer did not pay. Verify the payment and its relationship to the order before changing its status.
What about paid orders you have never noticed?
Manual checks are manageable with a few sales. With daily orders, finding the payment, matching identifiers and amounts, and checking the timeline becomes repetitive work. The challenge is identifying mismatches nobody has reported yet.
A plugin to detect payment and order mismatches
At Tu WEBMASTER, we developed Payment Audit for WooCommerce and Mercado Pago to meet a need in our clients’ stores. It reviews orders and available payment information so you can identify differences between the confirmed payment and the store’s order status.
Review orders placed before installation
You do not need to have installed the plugin when the purchase was made. Review earlier orders within your configured period, provided there is enough information to identify and verify the payment. You can then enable scheduled checks for new operations.
You decide what happens to flagged orders
Manual review: inspect results and decide which orders need attention without automatically changing their status.
Scheduled checks: enable periodic audits to identify mismatches without looking up every order yourself.
Configurable actions: enable rules to update eligible confirmed cases or send orders to a validation status for review. Automation is optional.
The plugin complements the official integration. It does not independently repair webhook, SSL or server problems and relies on verifiable information.
Nave payment checks are also supported
With compatible integration data, the plugin can also review Nave orders. It supports individual API queries and checks of payment information stored in WooCommerce. API checks depend on available payment identifiers, credentials and enabled settings. An order without sufficient evidence needs review and must not be assumed paid.
Start with a read-only audit
New installations start with scheduled checks and automatic status changes disabled. Select your review period, run a manual audit and compare the results with a known operation. You can then enable scheduled checks and intervention rules separately. Updates preserve settings already chosen for existing installations.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Mercado Pago show approved while WooCommerce shows pending?
The payment confirmation and the order update may be out of sync. A missed notification, a processing error or another integration issue can cause this. Investigate the operation to determine the cause.
Can WooCommerce automatically cancel an order that was paid?
Yes. If the store still considers an eligible order unpaid, its stock-hold configuration can cause cancellation even when Mercado Pago has already confirmed the payment.
Can I review earlier pending or cancelled orders?
Yes, within the configured period and when enough payment information is available. Enabled settings determine whether results are reviewed only or eligible status actions can also run.
Does the plugin automatically change my orders?
New installations start in read-only mode. You can keep reviewing without changing statuses or separately enable intervention rules after checking the results.
Can I also review Nave payments?
Yes, with compatible integration data. Individual Nave API queries and checks of stored order payment information depend on the available identifiers, credentials and settings.
Should I uninstall the official Mercado Pago plugin?
No. Payment Audit complements the existing official integration; it does not replace it.
